1. Blog: Here’s an AWESOME blog post on an inquiry unit about similarities and differences between people. Cristina shares everything you need to complete this unit in your classroom. Thanks, Cristina!

2. News: Here’s an article that will give some of you an idea of the teaching climate in Turkey. There are challenges, but those challenges will hopefully force teachers to evaluate better, grow stronger, and benefit their students and themselves even more.

3: Graphic: If you’re not going to beat it – use it! Smartphones and technology can help bolster students’ study habits.

4: Link: Forgive me for self-promoting here, but I forgot to include the link to my giveaway yesterday. So – here’s a free novel for everyone!

5: Quote: from John Mason. (quote found on pinterest, picture found in Izmir.)

6: Question: What is your favorite vocabulary lesson idea? (This can be just a couple of minutes in the classroom in the middle of a lesson, or an entire lesson idea.) Leave it in the comments below!

    Hi KL.

Once again, a fine selection to pick through. I agree, the first post you mention is awesome.

Favourite vocabulary lesson? I can’t think of anything which would help you in your current position, but I really like to brainstorm vocabulary at the end of a lesson. For example, after a fluency session around a bag of books (example here; http://carefulkaty.wordpress.com/2012/02/02/bag-of-books-cookery-edition/) for some reason people are more receptive to the fun side of words and word families after activities. Go figure.

Anyway, keep up the good work.
